Not gonna lie, the beginning of March wasn’t glorious. I just got out of a tiny slump and I’m better now. I’m also 5 books ahead on my Goodreads challenge (I wish I didn’t give it all that importance, but I tend to get really competitive when it comes to beating the numbers) and I still feel like it’s not good enough. I wanna read ALL THE BOOKS, it’s not my fault !
What I read
🌹The Sun is also a star by Nicola Yoon (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): gushed about it there.
🌹Romanov by Nadine Brandes (⭐️⭐️): this was a big disappointment for me and I had a lengthy go at it. You can find my review here
🌹City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): I had forgotten that this book was of monstrous size and that you can probably give someone a concussion with it. Nevertheless, still enjoyed it lots.
🌹Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): my first buddy-read ever !
🌹The Beast in the Jungle by Henry James (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) : kind of life-changing, strongly recommend !
🌹The Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) : check out my review here !
🌹Heroine by Mindy McGinnis (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) : Review to come… (ARC)
🌹Love and Other Curses by Michael Ford Thomas (⭐️⭐️): this… wasn’t what I expected and I’m super disappointed. (ARC)
🌹A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) : I’ve been in a mood to read more classics and especially more Shakespeare. Imo this is a great comedy.
Head over to my Goodreads if you wanna know what I thought about these books !
🌹 Emma by Jane Austen : I really love Jane Austen’s writing but for some reason, I have to read it in French (my native tongue lol not just saying it) otherwise I can’t do it.
TBR for August 2019
🌹King Of Scars by Leigh “My Queen” Bardugo : it’s time, folks. I’ve been putting this off for some reason but I REALLY WANNA GET TO IT BECAUSE I LOVE LEIGH SO MUCH.
🌹Anything by Shakespeare : I haven’t decided which play I wanna read next.
🌹Carry On by Rainbow Rowell : the pitch for this appeals to me a lot and I’ve had it to my TBR for ages.
🌹Slayer by Kiersten White : I’m a massive Buffy fan so I can’t wait to read this one !
🌹The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides : this is basically my attempt at getting out of my comfort zone reading-wise.
// One month book-buying ban //
I’ve made the decision to stop buying books for a month (~omg look at me, I’m so brave~) because (and I know I’ve said it before but the situation got a lot worse) my bank account is suffering. a lot. Here are the books I have in my current TBR (bought). I tried to do a two-month book-buying ban last month and miserably failed several times (as if telling myself I wouldn’t buy a single book for two months provoked some sort of chemical reaction in my brain and made me buy twice as much as I normally would). So until the 18th of April, I refuse to buy a single book.
